Sime Darby Transport (NZ) Ltd

Territory Sales Representative – New Business Development

A blended sales role – 40% account management, 60% new business development

Drive growth. Build relationships. Make an impact

TWL is seeking a driven and commercially focused and experienced Territory Sales Representative to deliver profitable growth across Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region, with a strong emphasis on new business development from Ashburton north.

This is a hands‑on, blended sales role, offering the best of both worlds:

  • 60% hunting – identifying, prospecting, and winning new customers across the territory
  • 40% farming – managing and growing an established base of existing customers, primarily in Northern Canterbury

Working closely with the Branch Manager and wider Territory Sales team, you will play a key role in expanding TWL’s customer footprint while ensuring strong customer continuity and service return.

About the Role

This role is responsible for delivering profitable sales growth by:

  • Actively identifying and securing new business (approximately 60% of the role) through prospecting, cold calling, and pipeline development across Canterbury, from Ashburton north
  • Managing and growing existing customer accounts (approximately 40% of the role), with a focus on long‑term relationship development and repeat business
  • Growing sales across the transport, agriculture, construction, and commercial sectors
  • Promoting TWL’s full range of products and value‑added services
  • Working closely with the Branch Manager and fellow Territory Sales Representatives to ensure smooth customer handover and service continuity
  • Maintaining accurate sales activity, pipeline, and call reporting

Territory boundaries may be adjusted in line with business needs.

About You

You will be a motivated sales professional with:

  • A proven passion for business development and winning new customers
  • Confidence prospecting, opening doors, and influencing decision‑makers at all levels
  • The ability to balance new‑business hunting with professional account management
  • Strong negotiation skills within agreed authority levels
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and reporting capability
  • A professional, customer‑focused approach and high personal standards
  • The ability to work collaboratively across branch, regional, and national teams

Experience in the transport industry is preferred; however, experience in agriculture, construction, or commercial sector sales will be highly regarded.
