POET is currently the nation’s 15th largest container exporter, exporting feed products to more than 20 countries. We are excited to have recently acquired a rail-to-container transload facility in Savannah, GA! By expanding our footprint, we will continue to drive consistency and demand within several of POET’s key markets for POET Dried Distillers Grain and POET Corn Fermented Protein animal feed. Our customers have already come to expect nothing less than the best in food safety and quality from POET, and we will continue to deliver as a trusted partner.
POET Terminals operate as high efficiency transload and unloading facilities that supply regional fuel markets with bioethanol. These operations receive product by rail which is transferred into storage systems and fuel delivery trucks to ensure safe, reliable distribution.
The Terminal Operator is responsible for unloading rail shipments and assisting with loading truck shipments of dried distillers’ grains and biofuels. Team members in this position use various equipment and software to ensure POET products are delivered on time and safely.
This is an on-site position located in Savannah, GA The hours for this position are 6:45 AM - 4:30 PM. Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and holiday work required Responsibilities include:
Unload railcars and trucks filled with feed, fuel and other products into storage and other means of transportation using mechanical equipment, meters, and scales as required. Assist with grain products or biofuel truck loading functions.
Ensure on time loading of goods.
Operate large machinery and equipment.
Assist with running the terminal gate shack or scale house using required software applications.
Adhere to all safety standards and permits necessary to perform work.
Complete HAZMAT paperwork as needed.
Maintain and execute all fuel and grain operation processes, including repair and maintenance.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks as directed.
Maintain a clean work area and participate in daily housekeeping of the facility.
Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skill may be put to many other uses!
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Willing and able to meet call-in requirements and work extended hours as necessary.
Willing and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to understand the technical and day-to-day operation of a transload facility.
Experience in truck loading and unloading, including rail tank car or grain hopper and tanker truck preferred.
Willingness to obtain DOT certification (bonus points if you are already certified).
Excellent organization and time management skills with a sense of urgency that drives results. Knowledge of the basics of the Microsoft Office Suite and the ability of learning new programs.

This role has some physical requirements that our team members will need to be able to perform, including, but not limited to walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling up and/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven surfaces, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Due to the physical and safety-sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
