Job Description

Ingram Marine Group encompasses our operating units involved in transporting bulk commodities on America's inland waterways, delivering fuel and supplies to the towing industry, and providing a ship anchorage in Louisiana. As the leading carrier, we operate a fleet that transport aggregates, grain, fertilizer, coal, ores, alloys, steel products, chemicals, and other products.

Ingram Marine Group is seeking a Laborer for our cargo terminals in Granite City, IL In this position you will be responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operation at our rail, truck, and barge terminals.

What you'll be doing:

  • Frequently carrying, dragging, and pulling of wires, lines, and railcar door opener equipment
  • Working alongside the river, and in the cargo holds of barges being loaded and unloaded
  • Assisting in crane signaling operations to lift and move cargo in normal daily stevedoring operations
  • Shoveling and sweeping while railcars or trucks are unloading product
  • Sledgehammering railcars

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to uphold Ingram’s high safety standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to respond quickly in an unexpected circumstance
  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork and acceptance of diversity
  • Strong communication skills with all levels within the organization

Pay: $21.50 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday (occasional Saturdays)

Additional Information

Candidates must:

  • Possess a High School diploma or GED
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work daily
  • Pass a post-offer process of an offer is made ( background check, drug screen, and physical)
  • Can walk and lift for extended periods
  • Can carry more than fifty pounds on a regular basis unassisted
  • Must be able to read and write the English language to comply with USCG regulatory requirements
