Job Description

The Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a term faculty appointment for academic year 2018-2019. Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence August 27, 2018.

Salary is competitive. Review of applications will begin on May 18, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Cellular/Molecular Biology, Endocrinology, or a closely related biomedical field. The position will require the incumbent to teach the equivalent of three undergraduate courses per semester, including lecture and laboratory courses in general biology as well as select upper level biology courses. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach, advise, and mentor students and has demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service.
