Job Description

The School of Education in the College of Arts and Science at American University invites applications for one (1) term, non-tenure track, faculty appointment for academic year 2017-18 in the field of comparative and international education. Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field. The appointment is a 9-month position and will commence on August 28, 2017, with potential for subsequent annual reappointments.

Applicants should hold a PhD or other terminal degree in comparative and international education or in any of the social science and humanities disciplines (sociology, economics, political science, history, anthropology, etc.) and should have a scholarly focus and/or professional experience on education in settings outside the US or on global dynamics in US education. Highly qualified applicants with all but dissertation in a field related to education will be considered. The position will require the incumbent to teach six courses per year which might include a combination of undergraduate and graduate courses. Successful candidates will also be responsible for providing advising and/or mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Education. All faculty, including term faculty, are expected to participate in school, college, and University activities and service.
