POSITION: The Department of Animal Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Food Microbiology. Candidates for Assistant Professor will be tenure-track and candidates for Associate Professor will be considered for either tenure-track or tenured depending on qualifications with demonstrated potential to develop an exemplary teaching, research, and service portfolio. Granting tenure is a recognition of excellence in all three areas. This is a 9-month, full-time appointment with research (60%), teaching (30%), and service (10%) responsibilities and an anticipated start date of August 15, 2027.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary focus of this position is to support cutting-edge research and teaching in food microbiology, advance the meat science discipline, and educate future leaders. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary faculty positioned to lead meat science through a transformational era while strengthening the Department of Animal Science's research, teaching, and outreach missions. Expectations include developing and leading an extramurally funded, internationally recognized research program in food microbiology with an emphasis on meat microbiology related to safety and spoilage, demonstrating leadership that fosters collaborative excellence in research and scholarship among faculty and students, and contributing to undergraduate and graduate education. The candidate will also engage disciplinary and industry stakeholders at the state, national, and international levels.

REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in Food Microbiology or a related field with a research record emphasizing meat microbiology is required. A demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in research, successful grantsmanship, and contributing to the undergraduate and graduate programs through teaching and mentoring is required.
