TENURE TRACK POSITION IN AMERICAN STUDIES
Scripps College, a women’s liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor in American Studies to begin July 1, 2027. The area of specialization is open but candidates with a background in comparative ethnic studies are especially encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching complements or adds new areas to the existing curriculum, including through Native American Studies, indigenous studies, queer studies, and ethnographic approaches. Theteachingloadistwocourseseach semesterandadvisingonseniorthesesis required ParticipationintheCoreCurriculuminInterdisciplinaryHumanitiesprogramisexpected. Ph.D. in American Studies is preferred but related disciplines will be considered. Ph.D. is required by start date.
Thesalaryforthispositionwillrangefrom$84,767 to $94,185 andwillbesetbasedonavariety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. In light of recent federal updates to visa processing and associated costs, the College is generally not in a position to sponsor visas for faculty appointments.
