
The Music Department of The College of Wooster seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in instrumental music to begin in August 2022. The successful candidate will direct Wooster’s Symphonic and Concert Bands, teach conducting and courses in instrumental music education, supervise student teachers, and maintain an active record of scholarly/artistic activity. Other duties will involve directing or overseeing Wooster’s Marching Band. The person in this position will lead Wooster’s Symphonic Band on an annual domestic tour as a means of public engagement and a recruiting tool for the College.
Completed Doctorate in Music or Music Education; ABD considered. Prior college-level teaching experience required. Applicants must have demonstrated experience teaching in a secondary or 4 - 12 school setting. Licensure/teaching certification is preferred. Experience in music technology is highly desirable. Candidates should provide evidence of effective teaching, ensemble performance, recruitment and leadership, as well as a commitment to programming works that reflect a commitment to diversity at the College.
