Job Description

I E University´s School of Science and Technology invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate courses such as Electrical Fundamentals, Power Systems, and Electronics.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong research record in a field related to:

• Power and energy systems, including smart grids and renewable energy systems
• Telecommunication and wireless communication systems
• Digital systems design and hardware architecture
• Embedded systems
• Internet of Things and cyber-physical systems.

A doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field is preferred.

Prior teaching experience and evidence of academic or professional contributions in the field will be viewed favorably.

Faculty are expected to engage in high-quality research, pursue external funding, and contribute to curriculum development and university service.

We value candidates with the capacity to collaborate in applied research projects led by the Impact Xcelerator at IE School of Science and Technology, specifically in Smart Grids & Renewable Energy, Next-Generation Communication Systems, and IoT & Cyber-Physical Infrastructures. The ability to contribute to multidisciplinary research initiatives that apply electrical and electronics engineering expertise to build sustainable, intelligent, and secure systems will be key to the role’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, including Electrical Fundamentals, Power Systems, Telecommunications, and Electronics.
• Conduct high-impact research in areas such as smart grids and renewable energy systems, wireless communication, digital systems design, embedded systems, and IoT/cyber-physical infrastructures, while actively securing competitive research funds.
• Supervise and mentor students across undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs.
• Collaborate with industry and research partners on innovative projects in renewable energy integration, intelligent communication systems, and next-generation electronics.
• Play an active role in curriculum development, incorporating emerging trends such as Industry 4.0, edge computing, and AI-driven electronic systems.
• Participate in academic service and contribute to the strategic growth of the School of Science and Technology.

Qualifications

• A doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control Systems, Power Systems, Telecommunications or a related field is preferred.
• Prior teaching experience and evidence of academic or professional contributions in the field will be viewed favorably.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is desirable but not mandatory.
