The Division of Emerging Interdisciplinary Areas (EMIA) is an academic unit established under the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies. EMIA envisions to foster the agile development of new education programs; contribute to identifying emerging cutting edge and niche topics, such as Artificial Intelligence, Digital Media and Creative Arts; and coordinate interdisciplinary education and research initiatives within and outside HKUST for agile development of emerging areas. EMIA will serve as a cross-disciplinary platform facilitating scholars from different departments, campuses, and universities to incubate and drive research agenda for new and emerging interdisciplinary areas.
Successful applicants will be expected to participate in or lead collaborative teams and research on emerging interdisciplinary topics, nurture undergraduate and postgraduate students with an interdisciplinary approach, and drive various interdisciplinary initiatives of the Division.
One of the positions is at the Associate or Full Professor level and is affiliated with the Dual Degree Program (DDP) in Technology & Management, a prestigious and innovative program designed to cultivate leaders who excel in both technology and business management, under the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies. Applicants for this senior position must hold a PhD in Engineering or Technology, and possess substantial management experience in the technology sector or a proven track record of teaching technology management. The successful applicant is expected to assume a leadership role within DDP.
Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, including annual leave, medical and dental benefits, and housing benefits, will be provided where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of the contract.
