The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning September 2026. Applicants will be considered for the title of Associate Professor.
The successful candidate will play a preeminent role in advancing the research and clinical objectives of the department through independent and collaborative efforts. This position calls for a candidate who will develop, nurture, and lead a vigorous, independent research program in biomedical sciences with an emphasis on tissue engineering and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) regeneration. They will be expected to collaborate and support basic scientific research from the lens of tissue engineering, particularly in the use of maxillofacial regeneration and secure external funding through grants and partnerships to support innovation.
The faculty member will participate in teaching for undergraduate, graduate, and professional courses in dental and biomedical sciences. It will be expected that the successful candidate will inaugurate courses and educational materials that reflect the latest advancements in the field of maxillofacial bone and tissue regeneration. They will contribute to the continuous improvement of the department’s educational programs through innovative teaching strategies and active participation in the development of curriculum. Service is expected at the university, college and departmental level. The candidate selected for this position should have a demonstrated level of authority in an area of expertise with participation in higher order service opportunities at the local, state, national and/or international level .
This position requires notable emphasis on research activities There will be lessoned initial effort towards teaching and service to safeguard efforts to establish their laboratory within the first year of hire with the institution. Subsequently, effort will be adjusted to include a balance of teaching and service to strengthen activities required for advancement and promotion within the College and Texas A&M University.
