Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) invites applications at the tenure-track assistant professor rank for a cluster hire in clinical psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. The specific area of research specialization within clinical psychology is open. Our nationally renowned Clinical Psychological Science Program brings together faculty whose research spans basic discovery through translation and population-level impact, with the broad goal of advancing the understanding of mental health problems and improving their assessment, prevention, and treatment. The IUB Clinical Psychological Science Program, which is accredited by PCSAS and APA, administers a NIMH T32 research training program in its eleventh year, and offers a first of its kind Clinical Psychological Science Bachelor of Science degree. We welcome applicants whose research and teaching will add new and/or complementary expertise and scientific perspectives to our ambitious and expanding clinical psychological science program.
These 10‐month appointments would ideally start August 1, 2027, although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. Applications received by November 15, 2026, will receive full consideration, and applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
Responsibilities: Tenure-track faculty at Indiana University Bloomington are expected to contribute substantially to the overall academic excellence of their department in research, teaching, and service, for example, by: (1) developing and/or maintaining a robust research portfolio including pursuing and obtaining extramural research funding to conduct cutting-edge research both as a corresponding principal investigator and a collaborating investigator; (2) teaching and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students as designated by the department chairperson; and (3) actively providing service within the department, school and university alongside active engagement with the profession and/or the community.
These positions are located on the campus of Indiana University, Bloomington (IUB) in Bloomington, Indiana, and successful candidates are expected to work on the IUB campus to allow full engagement with the department, school, campus, and community. Indiana University bases its tenure and promotion recommendations upon performance in three areas including research, teaching, and service. All individuals hired through this cluster hire are expected to excel in research and provide strong performance in teaching and service.
The department provides strong support for the continued professional development of early and mid-career faculty, evidenced by a strong track record of mentoring tenure-track faculty from point of hiring to tenure and to promotion to full professor. The university provides competitive startup funds, and the department arranges service and teaching assignments so that pre-tenure faculty can prioritize time on research.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should possess a PhD in psychology (or a related field) at the time of appointment and be committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Candidates must demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for a tenure-track appointment, including, for example, experience as lead investigator of extramurally funded research, current funding or strong potential to secure external funding, and established record of publications and scholarly work.
