The Department of Public Service and Administration (PSAA) in The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track, full-time, nine-month position as Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date for this position is August 1, 2027. Candidates with research expertise in all fields related to infectious disease policy and/or management will be considered. Candidates with expertise regarding infectious diseases in public health policy, health economics, public management, emergency management, health systems, regulatory policy, global health governance, biosecurity policy, implementation science, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will join a nationally recognized faculty in public affairs and public policy and will contribute to the Bush School's teaching, research, and service mission in public service, governance, management, and policy analysis.
Texas A&M University is a land, sea, and space grant institition that holds the distinction of classification as a Carnegie RI Doctoral University (Highest Research Activity) and offers extensive opportunities for collaboration and research support. This position is part of a collaborative cluster hire supporting the Texas A&M University initiative on Translational Research in Infection and Immunity—a multidisciplinary effort spanning multiple colleges, including the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, the School of Public Health, and the Bush School of Government & Public Service. The initiative addresses an urgent grand challenge at the intersection of health and national security, as emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases threaten human and animal health, food security, and economic stability. The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen the Bush School's contributions to this campus-wide, multidisciplinary research initiative.
The Bush School of Government and Public Service was founded in 1997 under President George H. W. Bush’s philosophy that “ public service is a noble calling” Since then, the Bush School has continued to reflect that notion in curriculum, research, and student experience and has become a leading international affairs, political science, and public affairs institution. PSAA faculty at the Bush School teach courses in both the master’s degree and new undergraduate major in Public Service and Administration. Faculty in PSAA benefit from opportunities for collaboration across the Bush School's programs in public policy, public management, nonprofit management, homeland security, and related fields. Applicants must have a doctorate in public policy, public administration, economics, political science, public health, health services research, epidemiology, or a related field relevant to infectious disease policy and/or management by September 1, 2027, and must demonstrate a commitment to high quality research and teaching in a professional school of public affairs.
