Oversee all tennis operations to ensure delivery of professional, high quality, safe and innovative programs and services to membership. Instruct members in the game of tennis. This position has a broad range of responsibilities and is considered the tennis expert.
Attract and Retain members by consistently providing excellent customer service
Responsible for Tennis facility, and overseeing proper maintenance, staffing, cleanliness and daily operations.
Approachable management style which includes supervising and managing staff members, planning, assigning and direct work/projects, appraising performance, and annual individual/team goals
Responsible for hiring, scheduling and training of Tennis department staff
Develop and manage department operating budget.
Liaison between the General Manager and the membership in regards to tennis programs and services within the club
Purchase & maintenance of all Tennis equipment
Creates, executes and evaluates ongoing programs (revenue generating and retention programs), as well as special events and participates in other duties as assigned
Instructs private, group, and clinic lessons
Promotes pro shop sales of racquets, strings, and other tennis equipment
Oversee racket stringing and demo rackets
Place high emphasis on the importance of the social element. This includes participation in planning and execution of club events as needed, such as Parent’s Night Out, Jazz By The Pool and Casino Night.
Supervise charging of programming, event and other fees.
Provide competent tennis instruction for all groups and levels of players.
Enforce all the club’s/facility’s rules governing the use of the facility, its equipment and other property.
Devote a reasonable number of hours to playing tennis with members regardless of their tennis ability
Enthusiastically encourage tennis participation by planning events to promote the sport in the facility.
Oversee in-house club tournament events, social events, free programs such as ladies drop in and men’s drop in.
Oversee all league play as well as implementation of interclub
May participate in MOD system
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory and instructional experience in a Club environment
Understanding of tennis operations from a business and sport perspective
Manages the operation of leagues, clinics, ladders and tournaments
Thorough understanding of the game of tennis, rules and instruction as demonstrated in achievement U.S.P.T.A. or U.S.P.T.R certifications
Prior experience running adult leagues and junior development programs
Obtain CPR certification within 30 days of hire through Company training
Must be able to successfully pass a background check
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Bachelor’s degree and Professional U.S.P.T.A. or U.S.P.T.R. certification
This position requires frequent standing, walking, and running, grasping, bending and kneeling on the Tennis Court. Sitting for some periods of time. Substantial repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Involved in activities where one must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Requires the ability to receive detailed information through written and oral communication.
Sedentary work involving sitting some of the time. Walking and standing are required daily. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects. In addition, involves physical movement which includes sports and activities related to membership events and programs.
This position requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing computer monitors and extensive reading.
It involves typical office or administrative work and member outdoor activity and events in hot weather.
