GE Vernova – Grid Systems Integration product line is globally recognized for designing, manufacturing, and delivering customized High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) solutions for utilities worldwide. With over 130 years of pioneering experience, GE offers two HVDC technologies, Line Commutated Converters (LCC) and Voltage Source Converters (VSC), to support a broad range of applications and deployable in different schemes including overhead line (point to point), back-to-back, submarine/land cable and offshore.
Every HVDC solution is tailored and designed based on a project-by-project assessment of the customers' individual requirements, whether it's for connecting offshore wind generation, long distance power transmission, or energy trading between independent networks.

This tender engineer role will be focusing initially deploying tenders tools across ITO (Inquiry to Order) organizations in the region and PDGs (Engineering, supply chain, proposal manager and construction). The tender engineer to lead wing to wing tools adoption following processes.
The role is expected to demonstrate technical leadership, team work capability and the ability to keep up with evolving technologies in GSI domain, versatile in adapting new product platforms and mentor the junior members of the team and other colleagues. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute team and self objectives, and possess the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
The Tender Engineer will play a key role in supporting the sales and business development by providing technical expertise in the design of electrification solutions for the HVDC & EHV/HV Substations. This individual will be responsible for system design, material selection, quantity estimation, various engineering activities associated for a tender and customer technical consultations. The candidate will also ensure that the proposed solutions meet customer needs while adhering to industry standards, safety regulations, quality requirements and cost-efficiency objectives.

The candidate shall execute with association of workgroups, where applicable, in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role, the candidate will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

The candidate will work with GSI Global Engineering Centre (GSI GEC) to coordinate with the GSI Regions / Business Lines / as per Project requirement.

Specific Role Requirements:

ITO Configurator (ITOC) Tool Deployment:

• Provide technical support/methods and specific technical configuration to the team to enable tool usage (ACS/HVDC/FACTS).
• Provide functional & cross-functional support as required by region and PDG. (Functions involved engineering, proposal team and sourcing team.)
• Understand the engineering process Inquiry to Order (ITO) to Order to Remittance (OTR), to ensure Bill of Material Bill of Quantity (BOQ) through ITOC done
• Ensure region quality of data in tool.
• From input of Standard solution team develop and support HVDC standard solution in ITOC tool. Support for maintenance of standard solution
• Act as focal point for functional support, 1st and 2nd level. Support local key user and large tenders teams to use ITOC tool for all tenders. Organize the training to key users on the functional use of the tool
• Maintain reference/training documentation for all user categories and functions (engineering, proposal team, sourcing and constructions)

Technical Support for Sales & Business Development:

• Provide expert technical advice during the sales process to ensure solutions align with client needs and specifications.
• Participate in pre-sales meetings with customers, acting as the technical lead to discuss system requirements, feasibility, and potential customizations.
• Collaborate with the sales team to develop competitive proposals, ensuring accurate technical descriptions, design insights, and cost-effective solutions.

System Design & Engineering

• Lead the design of electrical systems, including power distribution networks, substations, and integration of renewable energy sources tailored
• Evaluation of vendor Drawings, GTP, Calculation & Technical Specs
• LV/MV Engineering for the plant & substation
• ITO (tender) drawings, BOQ estimation, RFQ finalization, evaluation of various components & selection of equipment.
• Co-ordination and integration with Automation, Civil & MEP.
• Co-ordination of site & office team for execution of project
• Flexible and quick to learn global developments and adopt.

Material Selection & Quantity Estimation

• Identify and select appropriate materials and components (e.g., transformers, switchgear, protection devices, cables) that meet project requirements and industry standards.
• Estimate material quantities, costs, and lead times to ensure accurate budgeting and procurement for project execution.
• Work closely with procurement and suppliers to optimize cost and delivery schedules for selected components.

Collaboration & Team Leadership

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other engineering disciplines, proposal managers, Supply chain construction, to ensure the smooth execution of tender.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and design teams involved in project execution.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in EHV/ HV Substation engineering.
• Good understanding of power system components (transformers, switchgear, protection systems) and renewable energy integration.
• Strong knowledge on contract and project management, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), or Engineering equipment package (EEP) type
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical requirements and business needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients.
• Flexibility to travel globally (~20%)
