Job Title: Home Energy Officer

Type: Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2028

Location: Bridgend

Salary: £31,209 pro-rata

Hours: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week (days to be agreed)

BRC are working closely with a leading organisation to recruit an experienced Home Energy Officer to provide specialist casework, advice and support to older people who are experiencing or at risk of fuel poverty, or who require improvements to the energy efficiency of their homes.

This role will focus on delivering a holistic, problem-led and tailored home visiting casework service, helping to reduce domestic energy usage, improve home energy efficiency and increase household income through welfare benefits maximisation and charitable funding.

Duties:

• Provide specialist home visiting casework, advice and support to older people.
• Support individuals who are experiencing or at risk of fuel poverty.
• Identify ways to improve home energy efficiency and alleviate cold.
• Help reduce domestic energy usage and improve household energy efficiency.
• Support households to maximise their income through welfare benefits and charitable funding.
• Provide a holistic and tailored service based on individual needs.
• Work closely with Care and Repair Caseworkers and health and social care professionals.
• Identify and address wider housing issues affecting an individual's health, wellbeing, safety and security.

Requirements:

• Experience providing casework, advice or support services.
• Ability to work with individuals on a holistic and needs-led basis.
• Understanding of issues relating to fuel poverty, energy efficiency and household income.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential.
• Successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check, funded by the organisation.
