Overview

Position Summary

City National Bank is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Temporary Benefits Specialist to support the Human Resources Benefits team during the annual Open Enrollment period. This role will serve as a primary point of contact for employees, assist with benefits administration activities, coordinate enrollment communications, resolve employee inquiries, and ensure accurate processing of benefits-related transactions.

The ideal candidate possesses strong customer service skills, benefits administration experience, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage a high volume of employee requests in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Open Enrollment Support

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions related to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and voluntary benefits.
  • Assist employees with benefit elections and navigation of the enrollment platform.
  • Support Open Enrollment meetings, webinars, education sessions, and benefit fairs.
  • Monitor enrollment activity and assist with follow-up communications to employees who have not completed enrollment.
  • Coordinate and distribute Open Enrollment materials and employee communications.

Benefits Administration

  • Process benefits-related transactions including new enrollments, life events, changes, and terminations.
  • Review enrollment submissions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support reconciliation activities and maintain accurate employee benefit records.
  • Partner with benefits vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve employee issues.
  • Track and monitor benefit cases through resolution.

Employee Service & Support

  • Respond to employee inquiries via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
  • Research and resolve benefit eligibility, coverage, and enrollment questions.
  • Escalate complex issues to the Benefits Manager as appropriate.
  • Maintain a high level of responsiveness and confidentiality.

Data & Reporting

  • Update and maintain employee benefit records in HRIS systems.
  • Prepare enrollment tracking reports and audit files.
  • Assist with benefits file uploads and data validation activities.
  • Support documentation and records retention requirements.

Administrative Support

  • Schedule employee appointments and benefits consultations.
  • Prepare meeting materials, presentations, and enrollment packets.
  • Maintain benefits documentation and employee communications.
  • Assist with special projects and other benefits-related activities as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative, employee services, HR, or benefits-related experience.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred

  • Previous benefits administration experience.
  • Open Enrollment support experience.
  • Experience working with HRIS and benefits enrollment platforms.
  • Prior experience in banking, financial services, or a corporate HR environment.
