Humane Colorado is seeking a compassionate and dependable team member to join us in this temporary opportunity supporting both animal care and shelter operations. In this role, you will provide humane care for sheltered animals, maintain clean and safe kennel environments, support adoption and intake counseling for shelter patrons, and assist individuals relinquishing animals with empathy and professionalism.

Purpose of Position: Provide humane care for sheltered animals, maintain kennel facilities while completing adoption and animal intake counseling to shelter patrons. Perform custodial work in public areas, staff areas and shelter grounds; provide assistance to patrons relinquishing animals to Humane Colorado.

Schedule is full time for temporary period of 3-4 months. Shifts are four, 10-hour shifts - weekends are required
Compensation: Starting at $20.00 - $20.90 per hour (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, and equity)
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
Handle and restrain animals of various sizes, weights, and temperaments. Subject to animal bites or scratches. Work performed in high noise level areas. Potentially prolonged periods of sitting and repetitive motion. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal dander, and feces. Physical efforts require constant bending, stooping, standing, and walking, Frequent lifting of animals and objects up to 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation and occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. with reasonable accommodation. Will be exposed to the elements (cold, rain, etc.) while performing duties outside. Will be required to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays as business operations demand.

The Leslie A. Malone Center in Denver
The Buddy Center in Castle Rock
• The Harmony Equine Center, a private rehabilitation and adoption center for equine victims of mistreatment, as well as horses that come from partner humane societies and rescue groups to receive professional training and opportunities for new lives.
• Veterinary Hospital at CSU Spur, a full-service animal hospital for owned pets to prevent and alleviate suffering in pets whose caretakers would otherwise be unable to provide this medical care.
