and Responsibilities

The Humphries Lab is looking for a temporary Research Technician I to conduct basic research in aging, cardiac muscle biology and mitochondrial function through in vitro and in vivo approaches with mice.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Mammalian cell culture
  • Western blotting
  • Real-time PCR analysis
  • Basic biochemical assays
  • Immunohistochemistry
  • Mouse work
  • PCR genotyping

Minimum Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in one of the biological sciences, physics, chemistry, or related area, or equivalent years of relevant lab experience.
  • Should be familiar with lab techniques.
  • Ability to apply developing knowledge to coordinate day-to-day work, and complete a variety of detailed tasks and assignments.
  • Basic knowledge of Internet software, order processing system, data base and Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be detail-oriented and work independently as well as a team player.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum GPA of 3.2.
  • Previous lab experience working with rodents (especially mice) is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience with cell culture and Western blotting is also preferred.

Work Hours

Typically Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM.
