Part-Time position works up to 30 hours per week

RATE OF PAY: $20.10 hourly

PLEASE NOTE: Successful candidate must pass an extensive background screening.

NATURE OF WORK: Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in maintaining the safety and security of the Courts and court services personnel; performs related duties as assigned.

TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only) Evaluates and implements safety, security, and evacuation plans and procedures within court facilities; assists in patrolling courthouse facilities; maintains order and enforces laws; taking subjects into custody; assists in protection of life and property in and around courthouse facilities; screens all persons, bags, briefcases, packages, containers, etc., entering courthouse facilities; maintains chain of custody concerning confiscated weapons or contraband entering courthouse; recommends and implements corrective actions to improve courthouse security facilities; conducts bailiff duties in a courtroom, collects and processes fingerprints for criminal justice purposes and court employment, and may serve as a training instructor for the department.

Qualifications

Must be a minimum of 21 years old; possess a high school diploma or equivalent; and three (3) years of recent experience as a police officer, military police officer or comparable security experience where training, qualifying with, and carrying a firearm was required to include recent experience in a position involving significant interaction with the public. Must successfully complete the Arizona Supreme Court’s Court Security Officer Training Academy within 90 days of employment and Arizona Supreme Court’s Court Security Officer Firearms Training Academy within 180 days of employment pursuant to ARS §12-299.10. Candidates must successfully pass a psychological examination. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and the ability to be covered by county insurance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to individuals who are bilingual in English and Spanish in speaking, writing, and reading.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under general supervision. Incumbent generally works in a typical office or courtroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel within the county may be required. May require working evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential functions of this position require: lifting up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity, fine motor skills, ability to communicate.

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, feel or manipulate with hands.
