Lab Technician – Temporary Position

Location: St. Albans, WV

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Schedule: The normal schedule may fall within approximately 8:00 AM–4:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, depending on workload and business needs.

Weekly hours may vary. Some weeks may have fewer hours, while other weeks may approach or exceed 40 hours based on the needs of the project.

Assignment Length: Approximately 4–6 months

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Lab Technician for a temporary assignment with a local environmental and geotechnical services company in the St. Albans, WV area.

This position will primarily support soil testing and laboratory operations. The Lab Technician will prepare and handle soil samples, perform testing according to established procedures, record results, and assist with maintaining accurate laboratory documentation.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, has good attention to detail, is comfortable with basic math, and can follow procedures consistently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, handle, and organize soil samples for laboratory testing.
• Perform soil testing according to established procedures.
• Take accurate measurements and record test results.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations related to testing.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Follow written and verbal instructions carefully.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and laboratory requirements.
• Communicate questions or issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Work independently after training while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
• Assist with other laboratory and project-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous laboratory, soil-testing, construction testing, or related experience is helpful but **not required**.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable performing basic math.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Able to learn and consistently follow established procedures.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable performing hands-on and repetitive tasks.

Dress Code

This is a hands-on laboratory position involving soil samples and testing materials.

Employees should wear:

• Long pants or work pants
• Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes
• Comfortable, work-appropriate shirts
• Clothing suitable for hands-on laboratory work

**No shorts, sandals, flip-flops, or other open-toed footwear.**

Candidates should wear clothing they do not mind getting dirty during normal work activities. Any additional personal protective equipment required for specific tasks will be communicated by the employer.
