As a Janitorial Supervisor, you will lead a custodial team while coaching and supporting employees to develop workplace skills, build confidence, and achieve greater independence. Your leadership directly impacts both operational excellence and the professional growth of the people you supervise.

What You Will Do

  • Supervise, coordinate, and direct daily custodial operations to ensure contract requirements and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Lead, mentor, and support employees, including individuals with significant disabilities, by providing coaching, guidance, and on-the-job training.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and employee development.
  • Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and customer expectations.
  • Identify operational challenges, resolve issues promptly, and escalate concerns to the Project Manager when appropriate
  • Train employees on job-specific duties, safety procedures, equipment operation, and company policies.
  • Monitor employee attendance, performance, and workplace conduct while providing recognition, coaching, and constructive feedback.
  • Review leave requests and provide recommendations to the Project Manager in accordance with company policies.
  • Partner with Employment Services to ensure individual program plans are followed and appropriate workplace accommodations are implemented.
  • Assist in interviewing candidates and provide hiring recommendations.
  • Monitor inventory needs and submit requests for supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Inspect custodial equipment for proper operation and cleanliness, reporting maintenance needs and removing unsafe equipment from service when necessary.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate priorities, expectations, safety information, and inspection results.
  • Complete required reports, documentation, and administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
  • Represent Didlake professionally while serving as a responsible steward of government resources.
  • During inclement weather, assist with snow and ice removal from entrances, walkways, loading docks, and other designated areas.
  • Report to work as designated during emergency or inclement weather events when operationally required
  • Complete all required Didlake training and participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of custodial or janitorial experience required
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required
  • Experience supporting government or commercial custodial contracts is a plus.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to train, coach, and support employees from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Working knowledge of custodial methods, industrial cleaning equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality service.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, smartphones, web-based applications, and other technology used for scheduling, reporting, and communication.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers, coworkers, and stakeholders while representing Didlake's mission and values.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in daily operations.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
