Job Description

Job Location: Preble Street - PORTLAND, ME 04101Preble Street’s Residential Services meet the needs of people who have been chronically homeless and are now housed in its Housing First programs. Huston Commons, a Residential Services program providing services to thirty men and women, is seeking a supervisor to lead the second shift in this site-based, highly autonomous position.
The third-shift Temporary Supervisor will support the Huston Commons team in their direct-service work, with an emphasis on building community and relationships with tenants. This position will lead and work with staff to provide program coverage, maintain a safe environment for tenants and staff, monitor the security of the building, outreach and engage tenants in case planning activities, provide crisis intervention and support, and assist tenants in overcoming barriers to stable housing.
All members of the Residential Services management team work collaboratively with other supervisors and team leaders and occasionally work at the other Residential Services programs.
Please Note: This position is temporary and is expected to last approximately three (3) months from the start date.
The schedule will be Thursday-Sunday 10:00pm-8:00am

QualificationsThe preferred education and experience for this position includes a bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience; however, candidates with any combination of experience and education likely to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be successful in the position will be considered.
Candidates for this position should be skilled in clear, effective communication; problem-solving; working collaboratively; crisis intervention; and be able to establish boundaries and set limits in challenging situations with clients and community partners. Candidates should also understand traumatic reactions, mental illness, substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders, and have experience in leadership, casework, and working with people who have experienced homelessness.  A commitment to the Preble Street mission is essential.
Compensation
•  This position offers an hourly rate of $30.16.
