Job Description
The College of Veterinary Medicine invites applicants to apply for the temporary position of Health Information Clerk 2, located within the Veterinary Medical Center.The Health Information Clerk performs advanced record processing and supports departmental workflow efficiency. This position handles more complex record reviews, assists with compliance tracking, maintains and reconciles census data, and serves as a resource for clerical staff and clinicians.
- Conducts detailed record analysis to ensure documentation completeness and compliance.
- Verifies accuracy and validity of data entered into the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Tracks and monitors outstanding deficiencies; follows up with clinicians as needed.
- Assists with maintaining data integrity across electronic systems.
- Identifies workflow inefficiencies and recommends improvements.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and client information
- Maintains and reconciles departmental census reports, ensuring alignment between EMR data and internal tracking systems.
- Reviews census discrepancies and resolves data inconsistencies.
- Processes internal and external Release of Information requests.
- Supports onboarding and training of new clerical staff.
- Assists in compiling basic productivity and workload reports, including census-related metrics.
- Provides advanced customer service support for escalated inquiries.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.
