Discovery Co-operative is hiring a Temporary Full-Time Gas Bar Manager who may provide support in our Battleford and North Battleford, SK locations for a term of 8 months with possibility of extension.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Energy Division Manager, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee, plan, and manage daily operations for gas bar and car wash locations including fuel pricing, inventory management, and implementing marketing programs.
  • Prepare, administer, and achieve budgeted goals as it relates to the pricing, sales, margins, expenses, inventory of the commodity and sales per employee hour (SPEH).
  • Oversee adherence to brand and merchandising standards, marketing efforts, image standards, safety, and asset protection.
  • Provides leadership to the team, in the recruitment and selection of new team members, performance management, performance appraisals, training and development of team members.
  • Responsible for building strong customer relationships and delivering solutions. Oversee and monitor client satisfaction levels, ensure customer issues are resolved, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable government standards, as well as ensuring the practice of safety regulations by store employees and customers to promote the elimination of hazardous conditions.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Retail and:

  • Grade 12 required.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in retail and/or customer service, with supervisory and store management experience preferred
  • Possesses strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and analytical and problem-solving skills are required, with the ability to remain calm under pressure or high stress situations.
  • Effective team leadership skills and work well within a diverse multigenerational, highly motivated team.
  • Must successfully complete provincially required training/certification relating to the responsible selling of age-restricted items (including Lotto Learn and Tobacco Regulations)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and the ability to manage computer files efficiently.
  • Comfortable in working and learning new HR and Finance Technology
  • Knowledge of commodity sales, gross margin and inventory management
  • Comfortable working with different types of operating equipment such as a pallet jack, walkie stacker and computers/till.
  • Must be capable of occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Communicates Effectively - developing and delivering clear communication to a variety of audiences.
  • Directs Work – providing direction, delegating and removing obstacles to get the work done
  • Builds Effective teams – building strong-identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals
  • Situational Adaptability – adapting approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations
