Job Description

Location: CONNRI Lodge (Ashford, CT)

Scope of Position: To support various programs and events at Camp CONNRI and the CONNRI Lodge, including maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of facilities while collaborating with program leadership

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing spaces for incoming groups and restoring areas after program or event use.
  • Assist with grounds upkeep, including trash pickup and general appearance of outdoor spaces.
  • Ensure trash is properly managed throughout the area.
  • Perform any reasonable task requested by the supervisor or event client(s). If acting as a host, contact the supervisor for any requests that fall outside assigned duties.
  • Reorganize chairs after each meeting or event as needed.
  • Set up chairs, tables, and any other needed equipment.
  • Ensure proper portion sizes in all meal deliveries.
  • Ensure all meals are prepared according to the approved menus.
  • Ensure furniture, computers, and other items are arranged neatly.
  • Ensure the kitchen and dining area are kept clean and sanitary.
  • Follow established cleaning schedules and standards.
  • Maintain efficient preparation and delivery of all meals.
  • Maintain inventory and meal preparation records.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all assigned Camp and Lodge areas, including: cabins and lodging units, program office spaces, infirmary/health center, lodge common areas and dining spaces, restrooms and shower facilities, outdoor grounds, walkways, and activity areas.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, disinfecting, trash removal, and general upkeep to ensure all areas are safe, sanitary, and presentable.
  • Promptly report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or supply shortages.
  • Respect guests’ possessions and privacy. Report and return any guest properties found.
  • Serve as a professional representative of The Salvation Army, and maintain positive relationships with employees and guests.
  • Set up and clean before and after each meal and/or event: sweep floors, pick up trash, arrange chairs neatly, etc.
  • Stock needed supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, trash bags, etc.).
  • Work collaboratively with and report cleaning responsibilities, concerns, and completion status to the supervisors as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, and must be at least 18 years old.
  • A positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to safely and correctly clean with solid attention to detail.
  • Ability to safely and adequately use cleaning equipment.
  • Self-motivated and dependable.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Must be able to provide transportation to and from the work site.
  • Must complete KeepSAfe and other training requirements upon hire.
  • Will respect and promote the interests of The Salvation Army. The individual is not required to embrace the tenets of faith, but they are required to promote and respect The Salvation Army's mission.
