Temporary EC&I Technician (FTC up to 2 years)

We are seeking an EC&I Technician to join our team on a fixed-term basis for up to two years, supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.

The purpose of this role is to deliver hands-on maintenance, fault-finding, calibration, and improvement activities across site assets, ensuring equipment performance, compliance with regulatory and safety standards, and minimal operational downtime. Working closely with operations, engineering, and contractors, the EC&I Technician will contribute to planned and reactive maintenance, small projects, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance plant reliability and support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Production Team Leader, key duties include:
  • Investigate faults on plant highlighted by the notification process in SAP.
  • Progress notifications into work orders.
  • Complete daily scheduled work, ensuring the highest standards of H&S are followed.
  • Ensure tooling/equipment used is in date inspection and suitable (PUWER, LOLER).
  • Co-ordinate third party contractors on site when required.
  • Find and implement improvements to plant (continuous improvement).
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of outages.
  • Be reactive to breakdowns when required.
  • Report progress of work as required.
  • Assist in the development of apprentices on site.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Background
  • Demonstrable experience gained within the power generation industry or similar heavy industry - essential
  • Previous experience of contractor management - essential
  • Proven experience in the overhaul, maintenance, and repair of valves and pumps within an industrial or manufacturing environment - essential
  • Good numeracy, literacy and problem-solving skills - essential
  • Demonstratable competence in use of IT/IS skills (e.g. MS Office) - essential
  • Appreciation of the core components of a CCGT and how they operate - desirable
Knowledge
  • Fault finding on LV systems - essential
  • Knowledge of motors and drives - essential
  • 4-20mA Instrumentation/Calibration (Beamex) - essential
  • Electrical installation - essential
  • Able to interpret electrical/circuit diagrams - essential
Behaviours
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills - essential

Qualifications
  • Completed a recognised formal training programme or apprenticeship to achieve technician status (e.g. C&G parts I, II & III) - essential
