Under the supervision of the Communicable Disease Manager and the Disease Control Lead nurse conducts investigation of general communicable diseases. Provides services to identified at-risk populations by telephone. Provides consultation and education regarding communicable disease prevention and control. Encourages the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention of communicable disease and disability.

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in a Social Science or a health related field.
Experience: One year of experience that provided familiarity with Community and Public Health Programs. Familiarity with clinical language and ability to read and understand a medical chart and labs. Highly detail oriented, able to prioritize activities when under tight deadlines, and possesses analytical skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Strong technical skills including word processing, spreadsheet development and management, and database management, with an emphasis on proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Associate’s Degree in health related field and two years of experience that provided familiarity with Community and Public Health Programs. Other Requirements: Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.
Demonstrates effective communication skills by engaging, interacting and working with all individuals to ensure clarity and understanding in all interactions.
