Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Temporary Benefits Specialist to support our transition to Workday in partnership with Avaap, our certified Workday Implementation Consultants. Avaap is a full-service technology and management consulting firm specializing in Workday implementations, helping organizations modernize systems, transform business processes, and drive meaningful outcomes—particularly in higher education, government, and nonprofit sectors.
This role will work closely with the Lead Benefits Specialist to ensure benefit plan design, vendor integrations, ACA tracking, and compliance requirements are accurately configured, tested, and operationalized within Workday. This position serves as an operational safeguard ensuring continuity of daily benefits administration while bridging technical system configuration with real-world benefits operations. The ideal candidate brings strong benefits administration experience, compliance knowledge, and familiarity with Workday Benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Lead Benefits Specialist to translate current benefit plans into Workday best-practice configuration
- Participate in configuration review sessions, testing cycles, and issue resolution
- Monitor compliance with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and Section 125 requirements
- Identify potential compliance risks introduced during system transition
- Audit converted benefit enrollment data for accuracy
- Validate dependent, beneficiary, and coverage data
- Maintain continuity of day-to-day benefits administration during implementation
- Process life events and eligibility changes
- Support employee benefit inquiries
- Document processes and assist with development of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of progressive benefits administration experience
- Experience supporting benefits configuration in Workday or another HCM platform
- Strong knowledge of:
