Job Description

We are working closely with a local authority in Lambeth to assist with the appointment of a Temporary Accommodation Officer, on a 6.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £163.59- £215.39 per day

Summary:

To manage the day-to-day allocation, placement and management of Temporary Accommodation, including emergency accommodation, and provide advice, support and casework to residents to help them move on from temporary accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Allocate a range of temporary accommodation, including emergency accommodation, and coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Ensure the efficient and cost-effective use of available temporary accommodation.
  • Monitor placements and minimise inappropriate use of shared accommodation, particularly for families with children.
  • Maintain accurate records and track households throughout their temporary accommodation placement.
  • Manage a varied portfolio of temporary accommodation, including leased properties, hostels, direct lets, B&Bs and annexe placements.

Qualifications:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
  • Basic understanding of private-sector landlord and tenant legislation.
  • Practical understanding of housing problems and the allocation of temporary and permanent accommodation.
  • Knowledge of property standards, health and safety requirements, regulations and relevant legislation.

Essentials:

  • Experience of working with diverse and vulnerable customers within a housing or homelessness environment.
  • Experience of managing a personal caseload, working independently and as part of a team, prioritising workloads and meeting performance targets.
  • Experience of contract and performance monitoring.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
