Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lambeth to assist with the appointment of a Temporary Accommodation Move On Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £22.51 - £29.67 per hour

Summary:

The Temporary Accommodation Move On Officer role involves understanding individual housing and resettlement needs, identifying and matching households to suitable accommodation, overcoming barriers to move-on and completing the necessary processes to discharge homelessness duties. You will work closely with Lettings Negotiators, Council departments and external partners to ensure suitable properties are identified and efficiently allocated, helping to reduce the length of time households remain in temporary accommodation.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of households identified as ready to move from temporary accommodation into settled accommodation.
  • Assess household circumstances and identify suitable settled accommodation options, including private rented accommodation, supported housing, social housing, choice-based lettings and other appropriate options.
  • Review and update housing needs assessments and relevant documentation to ensure household needs are fully understood.
  • Establish rehousing and resettlement requirements, including affordability, geographical restrictions, vulnerabilities and any behaviours or circumstances requiring additional support.
  • Make referrals for specialist accommodation and support where required, including to Adult Social Care.
  • Work at pace to progress cases within appropriate timescales and ensure properties are used efficiently.

Essentials:

  • Experience of working within housing, homelessness, temporary accommodation or a related environment.
  • Experience managing a caseload and progressing cases within required timescales.
  • Experience assessing housing and resettlement needs and identifying suitable accommodation options.
  • Experience working with vulnerable households and supporting them to overcome barriers to housing.
  • Experience liaising with internal departments and external agencies to coordinate services and support.
