Job Description

Job Location: The Hiland Theater - Albuquerque, NM 87108

Position Type: Seasonal

Salary Range: $40.00 - $40.00 HourlyTeaching and Choreography:

  • At The Hiland Theater we are currently seeking teachers with experience and passion in working with children ages 6-12, versed in one or more of the following disciplines: ballet, jazz, modern/contemporary, tap, and hip-hop; we are also seeking hip-hop and breaking teachers for older students as well.
  • Instructors prepare lesson plans for classes, and choreography for performances

General Artistic Duties

  • Attends all enrichment workshops and staff meetings as needed
  • Follows NDI New Mexico program curriculum set by program director
  • Provides program director with required materials and information as needed
  • Supports performances by working backstage
  • Subbing classes when available
  • Other duties as needed and mutually agreed upon

NDI New Mexico’s kinesthetic teaching methodology was developed by former NYC Ballet dancer and MacArthur Fellowship recipient, Jacques d’Amboise, who founded NDI in New York City in 1976. In 1994, Catherine Oppenheimer, formerly of NYC Ballet and Twyla Tharp Dance Company, co-founded NDI New Mexico in Santa Fe.
