General Summary Uses a wide variety of general skills and abilities in carpentry, metal working, machining, pipefitting, plumbing, welding, electrical/electronics, tooling and mechanical trades to support manufacturing and facilities personnel by fabricating, installing, modifying, troubleshooting and repairing facilities, systems, equipment or components. Within capabilities performs economically feasible repairs to the greatest extent possible in a timely manner with stocked or purchased parts and available tools. Principal Duties and Accountabilities (*Essential Functions) • Performs service and functional checks and preventative maintenance facility-wide on all manner of company owned equipment at intervals as determined by the manufacturer's recommendations or at the direction of work instructions or supervision. • Documents all checks, services and repairs in such a manner as to keep equipment manufacturer's warranties in effect and to maintain compliance with plant, local, state and federal requirements. • Performs repairs on facilities, systems, equipment or components that is consistent with mechanical ability, economically feasible and can be done in a timely manner. • Perform other similar duties of comparable or lesser skills requirements as required or directed, including but not limited to assisting other technical and manufacturing employees in the maintenance of plant property, systems and equipment. Educational Skills and Experience • High School diploma, G.E.D. certificate or recognized equivalent. • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient enough to perform the following: o Communicate effectively with other team members and supervision o Read and comprehend process instructions o Record pertinent process information as required • Minimum 5 years of verifiable experience in a position with similar duties and responsibilities OR • A recognized certificate of training or diploma in a course of study in general mechanics AND 2 years verifiable experience in a position with similar duties and responsibilities • Must satisfactorily pass a written comprehension test and mechanical aptitude evaluation • Must own and maintain a complimentary set of hand tools sufficient to perform all duties presently required and must be willing to obtain replacement/additional hand tools as required. Employer will supply and maintain any required tooling deemed as 'special' or of extremely limited use. • Must possess the skills and abilities to use powered equipment like, but not limited to, drill presses and portable drills, portable and pedestal grinders, welding (Arc & MIG), portable, table and radial arm saws, pipe cutters, threaders and benders, powered and mechanical sheet metal shears and brakes and various handheld air and electric tools.
