Telemetry Technician26002274

Assists healthcare service providers by monitoring patients' EKG waveforms. Interprets results, recognizes irregular heart functions, such as an arrhythmia and informs provider of potentially hazardous arrhythmias.Maintains monitoring equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Monitors cardiac rhythms, reviews and tests memory alarms, set alarm parameters, and performs arrhythmia analysis.
  2. Monitors and documents cardiac rhythm strips per hospital guidelines.
  3. Communicates changes in patient telemetry status according to policy.
  4. Applies and removes telemetry equipment from patients using proper technique and universal precautions.
  5. Troubleshoots monitoring equipment and paging system as necessary.
  6. Performs activities related to equipment maintenance including routine battery changes, equipment checks, and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
  7. Maintains monitoring supplies at designated par levels.
  8. Communicates effectively with nursing and medical staff.
  9. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
  10. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of course in arrhythmia detection.


Preferred:

  • Three months of job-related experience.

Completion of formal coursework in EKG.
