Provides excellent patient care through monitoring and evaluating of patients requiring telemetry observation of cardiac status. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

  • No minimum experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting
  • Possess an understanding of electrocardiogram
  • 1 year of experience as a Telemetry Technician or Emergency Medical Technician

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent

Certification Summary

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Completion of Telemetry Exam with a minimum of 80%

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitors cardiac rhythm on telemetry monitor screen throughout shift.
  • Performs 12 lead electrocardiogram procedure as needed
  • Evaluates patient baseline rhythm, oxygen saturations, and any changes noted throughout stay.
  • Communicates effectively with other staff members in support of patient care.
  • Prepares patient properly for telemetry monitoring process.
  • Ensures upkeep of telemetry area to allow for most efficient workflow.
  • Participates in professional and staff development.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
