Job Description

At Titan ICT, the Telecommunications Technician holds a crucial role in being responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications systems and associated infrastructure on our client sites. Due to our significant growth, we currently have roles available in Dalby and Mackay. These roles ensure reliable and efficient communication services by supporting a wide range of technologies, including fibre optic and copper cabling, wireless and radio systems, network equipment, and power systems.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

• Install and configure telecommunications equipment such as switches, routers, cabling, antennas, and radio systems.
• Perform fibre and copper cabling, termination, and testing.
• Commission and integrate equipment into existing networks.

Maintenance & Repair

• Conduct routine preventative maintenance on network equipment and infrastructure.
• Diagnose and repair faults in cabling, power systems, and telecommunications hardware.
• Perform software and firmware updates on relevant systems.

System Integration & Support

• Work with engineering teams to implement upgrades and expansions.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support to end users and operations staff.
• Support rollout of new technologies (e.g., IP-based networks, wireless systems).

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Maintain accurate site records, test results, and asset documentation.
• Follow safety procedures for working at heights, confined spaces, and with electrical systems.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of telecommunications systems (wired and wireless).
• Proficiency in fibre, Coaxial, and copper installation, testing, and fault finding.
• Understanding of IP networking (routing, switching, VLANs, VoIP desirable).
• Familiarity with RF systems, antenna installation, and microwave links (advantageous).
• Rigging and working at heights qualifications (Desirable)
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Certificate or Diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related discipline.
• Industry certifications (e.g., ACMA Cabling Licence, fibre optic endorsements, Working at Heights, First Aid) highly regarded.
• 2+ years of experience in telecommunications installation and maintenance.
• Mining industry experience will be highly regarded.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to field sites.
• Industry White card
