Job Description

Title: Starlink Installer – Casual (Alaska)

Department: Tidal Network

Location: Open to remote applicants located in Alaska/Travel Required.

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Grade(s): 10-12 ($33.62 - $40.67 + DOE)

Reports To: Telecom Tower Construction Manager

Purpose: The On-Call Telecommunications Installer assists with the installation and support of broadband and telecommunications services for Tidal Network. Assignments may include installing Starlink systems, setting up customer equipment, performing service calls, and supporting broadband projects in communities throughout Alaska. This is an on-call, project-based position, and new team members will receive hands-on, on-the-job training by working alongside experienced Tidal Network Field Technicians.

Essential Functions. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:

· Perform residential and commercial installation of Starlink satellite internet systems and other broadband equipment.

· Install, configure, and troubleshoot routers, Wi-Fi equipment, customer premise equipment (CPE), and home networks.

· Conduct site assessments and determine appropriate equipment placement.

· Mount, align, and secure equipment using roof, wall, pole, or other approved mounting methods.

· Install, route, weatherproof, and secure network cabling; drill and seal wall penetrations when necessary.

· Respond to customer service requests, equipment replacements, maintenance calls, and technical support inquiries.

· Educate customers on equipment operation, Wi-Fi best practices, and basic troubleshooting.

· Complete installation documentation, service records, inventory tracking, and project reporting.

· Follow all Tidal Network safety standards, installation procedures, and quality control requirements.

· Travel throughout Alaska, including remote communities, to complete installations and support broadband deployment projects.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. A comprehensive set of capabilities required to perform job tasks effectively:

· Ability to work safely on ladders, roofs, and in varied outdoor/weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

· Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, Microsoft Office, and general technology systems.

· Working knowledge of internet and Wi-Fi networks; ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues.

· Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from technical manuals and documentation.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, coworkers, and management.

· Ability to travel occasionally for customer support and training.

· Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.

· Strong organizational, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

· Ability to provide training and present information to individuals and groups.

· Knowledge of Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian cultures, or willingness to learn.

Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills):

· High school diploma or GED

· 1 to 3 years experience in experience in telecommunications, satellite installation, low-voltage systems, IT support, construction, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

· Previous experience using hand and power tools.

· Must be 21 years of age with a Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, skills):

· Experience installing Starlink or similar systems

· Experience with wireless broadband or fixed wireless equipment.

· Commercial Driver's License

· Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs; climbing ladders and working at heights; standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods; working outdoors in varying weather conditions; and using tools and equipment safely with adequate vision, coordination, and manual dexterity.

Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

· Some travel may be required on small aircraft or ferry.

· Certain positions at Tlingit and Haida may have exposure to certain hazardous materials or conditions. The supervisor will review these if applicable.
