Job Description

Leidos Digital Modernization sector is currently looking for a Telecommunications Engineer, Journeyman at Langley AFB, Hampton, VA to support the Mission Partner Environment (MPE) Operations Maintenance and Sustainment (OM&S) program. This role is integral to implementing, and maintaining advanced telecommunications infrastructure that underpins a dynamic, globally distributed intelligence-sharing environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of secure communications systems in support of complex, multinational operations. We are seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team.

Primary Responsibilities

Technical Primary Role

• Support for Coalition Integration Lab’s engineering and testing requirements

• Support and Deployment for US BICES bi-lat systems and networking Strategy & Planning

• Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for

fulfilling business objectives and processes.

• Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business

requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.

Acquisition & Deployment

• Designs and defines network architecture for new or existing computer systems

• Performs complex network development and design work.

• Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements.

• Provides input for documentation on new or existing networks.

• Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks meet documented user requirements.

Operational Management

• Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems.

• Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

• Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for

hardware/software compatibility.

• May provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced systems engineers.

• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

• Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.

• Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.

• Participates in special projects as assigned.

This position may be required to complete short-term deployments to AFRICOM AOR.**

Basic Qualifications:

• Must possess and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

• BA/BS degree & 2+ years experience – additional experience may substitute degree.

• Must possess a completed CCNA certification.

• Must meet DOD 8750 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II (one of the following- Sec+,GSEC,SSCP or CCNA SEC) access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges and must obtain ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire. Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.

• Knowledge and experience with data center networking

• Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast

• Experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets

• Understanding of network virtualization

• Basic Understanding of Broadcom’s NSX-T

• Knowledge and experience with F5-OS and F5 BIG-IP’s LTM and APM

• Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)

• Knowledge and experience with HAIPE-based encryption devices

• Knowledge and experience with maintaining COMSEC accounts

• Knowledge and experience with current Juniper JUNOS software and hardware

• Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and NXOS software and hardware

• Knowledge and experience with Firepower Management Center and Firepower Threat Defense.

• Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels

• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work

• Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize work and work autonomously

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Great attention to detail and presentation

• Results driven, highly efficient, energetic, and highly motivated

• Must possess a high degree of intelligence, competence, maturity, adaptability, resilience, integrity, and initiative

• The work is typically performed at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completed any CISCO Advanced certifications

• Completed any JUNIPER Advanced certifications

• Knowledge of Virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft

• Knowledge of Automation technologies for Networking (Ansible/Python)

• Understanding of concepts presented in the VMware Data Center Virtualization Fundamentals course

• Understanding of VxRail Manager and best practices

• VDI experience highly desired

Pay Range:

Pay Range $59,150.00 - $106,925.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
