Job Description

As a result of strong growth in the telecommunications sector, we require a Telecommunications Civil Designer to join our national telecommunications design team.  Ideally, we require persons with extensive field, design and construction experience in projects for Telstra/NBN customer access networks. Knowledge of communications manholes, pits, pipes, cables as well as a strong understanding of the Telecoms civil construction practices is also desired.

You will need to demonstrate recent & relevant understanding of the Telstra/NBN/Optus external network architectures. The ability to read & understand civil roadworks engineering plans would be advantageous. Extensive knowledge of civil works construction techniques would also be highly regarded.

The Role

  • Carry out field inspections and network scoping to investigate & capture accurate network data.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on major roads, urban development and utilities projects.
  • Liaise and maintain a high level of rapport with Clients, Councils, Telstra (& other Carriers) & Main Roads.
  • Design Utility civil asset network solutions
  • Design Utility cable network solutions
  • Supply detailed plan mark-ups for drafting.
  • Review design projects to ensure accuracy and technical compliance.
  • Prepare quantity and construction cost estimates.
  • Optimize productivity to meet established targets.
  • Project management capabilities

Qualifications

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Telco external field works areas.
  • Construction and/or Project Management experience
  • Operational knowledge & understanding of Telstra/NBN Systems.
  • Current drivers’ license.
  • Telstra/NBN copper network knowledge.
  • Telstra/NBN & other carriers Optic Fibre knowledge.
  • AutoCAD skills are an advantage.
  • A commitment to providing high quality results.
  • Be self-managed with the ability to work independently.
