About this position:

The Technician Telecom is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of telecommunications networks. This role ensures the seamless operation of network services, resolving technical issues, and optimizing network performance to meet business and customer needs. Systems include but are not limited to DWDM, microwave, fiber optic, 2-way radio, narrowband RF, and Ethernet networks and circuits. This position will be located in our Butte, MT Network Operations Center and provide support for all network system operations.

About this job:

  • Monitor network performance and connectivity
  • Perform regular maintenance checks to ensure network health
  • Identify and troubleshoot network issues to minimize downtime
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and support for network equipment, including RF systems, multiplexors, routers, switches, and other telecommunication hardware
  • Assist in the deployment of new network infrastructure and upgrades
  • Provide knowledge and technical support to other team members and field operations
  • Respond to network related incident and service requests promptly, emergency response outside normal work hours may be required
  • Document all technical issues and solutions in a timely manner, including filing any external regulatory filings that may be required
  • Analyze network traffic and performance in an effort to provide optimized, redundant, and reliable services
  • Maintain detailed records of network configurations, changes, and incidents
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Work collaboratively with other departments that rely upon telecommunication services
  • Work overtime including evening and weekend shifts in response to acute service needs
  • Lift and manipulate needed equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally drive to installation locations

  • Associates or technical college degree in an electronics-related field or related military or industrial experience or two years of related experience in the telecommunication technician field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in networking and telecommunication technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Commercial Driver's license preferred or the ability to obtain.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and safety
  • Commitment to safe working practices and knowledge of safety policies/procedures
  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Get Into Energy - Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 certification is a plus (click on the link to certify at no cost)
