Summary

Join the city of Boise as a Youth/Teen Outreach Leader! Make a positive impact in your community while gaining valuable hands-on experience working with youth! This position supervises students in grades 6–12 in afterschool programs at one of the City’s school-based community centers. You’ll engage youth in recreational activities, games, arts and crafts, while helping create a safe, welcoming and fun environment. This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in education, recreation, social services, youth development or other community-focused careers. Applicants must be age 19 or older.

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

• Working knowledge of computer software such as Word and Excel as well as internet skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training

• 1 year of experience supervising youth and teens.
• Current certification in First Aid/CPR.

Licensing And Other Requirements

• Valid state-issued driver's license

Examples of duties

Ensures the safety and well-being of all community center afterschool participants and staff.

Encourages and engages youths in a variety of indoor and outdoor group recreational activities such as basketball, tag and tetherball.

Prepares materials and supplies for youth arts and crafts projects and assists participants when necessary.

Makes sure equipment and supplies are in good working order and notifies supervisor when items need repair or replacement.

Applicants must be able to pass:

• City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
• Driving Record Check

Physical Efforts

While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds and frequently lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds and frequently pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. The noise level is always moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, runn, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

Working Environment

The work environment will include inside conditions and outdoor weather conditions.
