Technology Vendor Manager

Role Location: Pune

The Role

The Technology Vendor Manager is accountable for maximizing the value delivered by external technology vendors while minimizing total cost. The role leads vendor sourcing, commercial negotiations, performance management, and cost‑reduction initiatives to ensure that third‑party services support business objectives, deliver operational excellence, and meet budget expectations. The Technology Vendor Manager will report into the Head IT Business Management Office.

Vendor Strategy & Cost Optimization

  • Develop and execute a vendor management strategy focused on reducing total cost, eliminating unnecessary spend, and driving commercial value.
  • Perform cost‑benefit analyses, benchmarking, and market assessments to identify savings opportunities and deliver year‑on‑year cost improvements.
  • Optimize contract structures, consumption models, and pricing schedules to ensure the organization pays only for value received.
  • Proactively monitor contract end dates and plan timely renegotiations or transitions that maximize financial outcomes.

Vendor Selection & Contracting

  • Lead sourcing activities, evaluate vendor proposals, and manage competitive bidding to secure cost‑efficient and scalable solutions.
  • Drive commercial negotiations, including SLAs, KPIs, and pricing terms, ensuring legally compliant and financially advantageous agreements.
  • Maintain a centralized vendor and contract repository to support transparency, audit readiness, and financial planning.

Performance & Relationship Management

  • Monitor vendor performance against contractual commitments, SLAs, and KPIs, resolving issues that may impact service quality or cost.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for vendor‑related concerns, partnering with business and IT teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, automation, and service improvements to enhance value delivery.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Conduct regular vendor risk assessments and support audits to ensure adherence to regulatory, contractual, and internal governance standards.
  • Align vendor activities with IT, procurement, finance, and legal policies and ensure appropriate controls are in place.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in IT vendor management, procurement, or contract management.
  • Familiarity with ITIL and vendor risk assessment frameworks.
  • Experience managing contract lifecycle and driving structured cost‑reduction initiatives.
