The Opportunity | Ara Whiwhi Mahi

We are seeking a Technology Specialist level 2 in our team where you will provide advice, guidance and analysis to support Customer & Compliance Services – Planning, Design & Delivery’s (CCS – PDD’s) release management approach, including testing, transition of defects into production, early life support and post release quality assurance activities related to our START system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain an understanding of Inland Revenue (IR) and our customers to deliver services that meet current and future needs delivered by the Design Support domain.
  • Provide specialist support, advice, and services relating to application management and testing across the organisation to inform quality decision-making.
  • Ensure consistent application of design solutions to Enterprise, Local, and Break Fix initiatives.
  • Identify emerging trends and provide thought leadership that support prioritisation for operational delivery, projects, or initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our service offering delivered by the Domain that supports IR to deliver its strategic objectives by taking a system-wide view and collaborating across IR.

About you| Mōu

As a Technology Specialist L2, you will take a lead role in supporting the delivery across the Supporting Testing, Events and Application Management team within this Domain’s activities. You will support development and implementation of industry practices (where applicable) for application management and testing alongside the Domain Lead and represent the team and the wider Planning, Design and Delivery segment across the organisation.

To be successful in this position, you will ideally possess the following capabilities:

  • Self-starter, self-driven, and proactive in your approach to work.
  • Deep understand of industry standards and practices such as ITIL, COBIT, Agile, Functional & Non-Functional testing.
  • Highly customer-centric in your approach to providing solutions and outcomes.
  • Strategic planning and thinking, ability to think about strategic outcomes when it comes to planning and delivery, while considering broader operational planning.
  • Trend and theme analysis, ability to digest data and information to produce reports providing insight on broader themes and trends, including the ability to identify strategic risks that will affect the domain or IR reputation.
  • Advanced stakeholder management experience. You will have the ability to establish, develop, and maintain relationships, working collaboratively across IR to deliver outcomes, including dealing with executive governance.
  • Strong understanding of START is desirable.

The Supporting Testing, Events and Application Management team (STEAM) is a diverse group of people located all across the country. Part of the Operational Support area of Planning, Design and Delivery, our team is here to:

  • Ensure key system and business driven events and activities using IR print mail services are carefully planned, integrated, and managed.
  • Manage our vendors for IR postal services.
  • Manage, coordinate, and deliver IR testing requirements for IR’s tax & social policy system START.
  • Manage, coordinate and deliver of the issue resolution process and practices for IR core tax & social policy system START, across PDD to ensure effective issue resolution.
  • Support CCS-PDD’s release management approach, including early life support and post release quality assurance activities related to our START system.
