Salary/Position Classification
- $44,300 - $50,950 annual, Exempt
- This position will work onsite the Grand Forks, ND campus.
Purpose of Position
The purpose of the Technology Specialist position is to provide support, maintain, and improve the Athletics technical systems for UND Athletics, departments & assigned sports teams. This position will be the main point of contract between UND Athletics and UND University IT and may serve as the point of contact for current athletic conferences for the implementation of any conference-wide initiatives. Must ensure that all technology for department is compliant with UND policies, procedures, rules & regulations, and provide education for department in applicable situations. This position will also manage and maintain technology equipment inventory & order new equipment and supplies when needed according to UND Procurement policies. May need to work nights and/or weekends to provide services during athletic practices and/or games.
Must have commitment to compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations. Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage all UND Athletics technological needs.
- Provide support for the day-to-day information technology systems for UND Athletic department, including management of department vendor contracts.
- Liaise with UND University IT (UIT) and serve as the main point of contact for UND Athletics.
- Actively meet with coaches & athletic department leadership about technological needs of department.
- Understand policies and procedures ensuring compliance with UND, UIT, and NDUS technological policies.
- Diagnose and resolve video/film problems as they arise.
- Serve as department manager for artificial intelligence initiatives & provide updates to department as needed.
- Provide insight and feedback on the review of all current and any future vendor contracts.
- Respond timely to requests within department on technology-related issues.
- Assist in the procurement and operation of technological equipment, and assist department business office on submission of any necessary forms, including Non-Standard IT Requests, Alternative Procurement Requests, and Supplier Requests.
- Partner with UIT on maintaining equipment inventory in conjunction with Assistant AD for Operations.
- Partner with UIT on recommendations for new & replacement equipment, as needed.
- Athletic game & practice duties.
- Manage, prepare, and operate camera equipment for assigned athletic games and practices.
- Coordinate game & practice film schedules as requested by supervisor and/or sport head coaches.
- Provide help to sport operations staff on film breakdown, as assigned, which can include, but is not limited to, Catapult, DVSport, FastModel, Volleymetrics, GameStrat, Spiideo, ANSRS, CoachComm, and HUDL.
- Attend educational sessions for practice & gameday technology systems & provide training to appropriate staff and/or coaches.
- Liaise with athletic conferences and professional organizations on all technological & film requests.
- Assign & train gameday workers on replay systems to include, but limited to, DVSport & Spiideo.
- Edit and exchange game film in accordance with appropriate UND, NCAA, and conference specifications for sports, as assigned.
- Archive all game and practice film, as assigned.
- Other technological game & practice duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Provide technological services needed during official & unofficial recruiting visits for sports, as assigned.
- Periodically review department technological needs and provide recommendations to athletic department senior staff.
- Work with compliance staff to ensure compatibility with NCAA and/or conference rules & regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings, as assigned.
- Manage student technological support staff, if applicable.
- All other duties as assigned by the Deputy Athletics Director/COO and/or Director of Athletics.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, database management, or a related field.
- 2 years of work experience in the field of computer science or technological support.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
