Technology Segment Specialist — Power & Energy Storage

  • Location: Czech responsible for Eastern Europe

  • Travel: frequent travel across the region (customer sites, vendor meetings, events)

Avnet Abacus is seeking a hands‑on Technology Segment Specialist to drive technical sales and business development for power‑supply modules and energy‑storage solutions. This hybrid FAE / Business Development role acts as the technical interface between customer engineering teams and supplier partners (e.g., Advanced Energy, XP Power, Vicor, Delta, Flex Power). You will provide architecture guidance, generate project pipeline, support design wins, enable the commercial team, and convert technical engagements into revenue across the Eastern European region.

Key responsibilities

  • Proactively develop and implement technical account penetration strategies across the assigned markets; present new products and technologies to current and prospective customers.
  • Engage in supplier‑ and customer‑led design reviews and provide actionable application guidance.
  • Uncover and document customer requirements from system level down to component level; propose and validate appropriate power‑supply and energy‑storage solutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key technical decision‑makers and influencers within customer accounts.
  • Drive adoption of vendor solutions by enabling the local sales teams with technical content, presentations, demos and training.
  • Track and manage the largest design opportunities from concept through production, coordinating supplier resources to maximize the chance of success.
  • Create technical sales tools (reference designs, application notes, ROI/total cost analyses, demos) that position Avnet Abacus as a trusted technical partner.
  • Manage projects end‑to‑end through close collaboration with customers, internal sales, product management, supply chain and vendors.
  • Monitor market and competitor activity; communicate industry trends and roadmap inputs to suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge through internal and external technical training and certifications as required.
  • Actively engage existing and potential leads with continuous follow‑up and status updates.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Power Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years hands‑on design experience in power electronics, power supplies or energy storage (FAE / application engineering / design).
  • Strong technical knowledge of power supply modules (AC‑DC, DC‑DC, PoL), battery systems and BMS concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written English. Fluency in English plus at least one Eastern European language is mandatory.
  • Proven ability to interact with engineering teams, run design reviews and produce technical deliverables (schematics, reference designs, lab test plans).
  • Customer‑facing experience and comfort with frequent regional travel.
  • Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder‑management skills.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree or higher
