The Technology Risk Lead plays a key role in supporting the Head of Technology Risk to strengthen and evolve Technology Risk practices across the organisation.

Working closely with technology, security, and operational teams, you will coordinate core risk activities, ensure the quality and consistency of risk information, and support the delivery of clear, actionable risk insights for governance and decision-making.

You will help maintain a strong view of technology risk by ensuring risk, control, and remediation information is accurately captured, organised, and aligned across the business.

We are open to candidates residing in any NEXTDC location across Australia, and highly value experience with Agentic AI technologies

What will you do:

Technology Risk Coordination

  • Coordinate Technology Risk activities, including risk assessments, remediation tracking, and control framework management.
  • Promote consistent risk practices and high-quality risk information across teams.

Risk Assessment & Oversight

  • Review and challenge risk assessments to ensure risks, controls, and remediation activities are clearly defined and appropriately managed.
  • Support the identification and assessment of emerging technology risks.

Risk Reporting & Governance

  • Maintain the Technology Risk Register and support the preparation of risk reporting and governance materials.
  • Provide clear, structured risk insights to support stakeholder decision-making.

Controls & Assurance

  • Support the development and maintenance of the controls framework aligned to recognised standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, and Essential Eight.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, assurance activities, and compliance obligations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with technology, security, and operational teams to gather, validate, and coordinate risk information.
  • Foster alignment on risk treatment and remediation activities across the organisation.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance Technology Risk processes, reporting, and governance practices.
  • Contribute to the ongoing maturity and effectiveness of the Technology Risk function.

What you need:

  • Strong understanding of technology environments, including infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, identity, and operational technologies.
  • Ability to translate technical issues and control gaps into clear business risk implications.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to synthesise complex information into concise, structured, and actionable insights.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Confidence to provide constructive challenge and drive quality risk outcomes.
  • Comfortable operating in dynamic, evolving, and ambiguous environments.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years’ experience in Technology Risk, Cyber Risk, IT Audit, Risk Management, or Governance roles.
  • Strong understanding of technology environments, with the ability to engage credibly with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agentic AI technologies is highly desirable
  • Experience supporting audit and assurance activities, including ISO 27001, SOC, regulatory, or customer assessments.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk reporting, governance forums, and stakeholder communication.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical environments and issues into clear, structured, and actionable risk insights.
