Role Responsibilities

The Ministry of Technology & Innovation is currently seeking your talent to fill temporary positions and build our teams within the divisions of Data and Content Management (DCM), Digital Design and Delivery (DDD), Technology Support and Operations (TSO).

The responsibilities of these roles include:

Technologies 3:

• Understanding the decision-making process, workflows, and business and information needs of AI Center of Excellence (CoE).
• Translating business needs into analytics/reporting requirements to support executive decisions and workflows with required information.
• Researching and implementing cutting-edge techniques and tools in machine learning/deep learning/artificial intelligence to make data analysis more efficient.
• Determining requirements that will be used to train and evolve deep learning models and algorithms.
• Visualizing information and developing engaging reports on the results of data analysis using data visualization tool.
• Working with various technical project teams to analyze problem areas, identify opportunities for improvement.

Systems Analyst 1:

• Supporting Product and Platforms teams in both front-end and back-end software development as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
• Providing technical expertise and support to service operations and IMT operations.
• Providing service support and guidance around data management, governance, architecture, analytics, product delivery and literacy.
• Contributing to the development and implementation of government's internal artificial intelligence program including robotic process automation.
• Assisting in the development of enterprise content, technology and privacy management policies and strategic initiatives.
• Providing divisional business support, administrative services, and governance support for content management initiatives.

Qualifications

Technologies 3:

• Two-year technical diploma in a related field such as Computer Science or Information Management Technology; or equivalent as described (below).
• Experience with conducting research, building models, data collection and analysis.

Equivalencies:

• A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and one (1) year of related experience; or
• Two (2) years of related experience.

Systems Analyst 1:

• A related two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution with no related experience; or equivalent as described (below).
• Experience understanding conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• High level understanding of designing, programming, and implementing large complex information systems.

Equivalencies:

• A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and one (1) year of related experience; or
• An industry-recognized certification from a credible source, such as ISC2, may be used in place of the one-year certificate.

Below are mandatory requirements for both classifications:

• Be enrolled in a post-secondary institution for September 2026 or have graduated within the last six months from a post-secondary institution. Students can be enrolled in part-time or full-time studies.
• Be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Be in Alberta during their work term.
• Meet the minimum recruitment standards for the classification of the position you are being hired for.

Notes

Salary varies based on the classification of the temporary opportunity. The hourly wage is paid on a bi-weekly basis starting at $29.87 per hour for Technologies 3 roles and up to $51.18 per hour for Systems Analyst 1 roles.

Wage (casual) employees receive 11.6% in addition to regular wage earnings, in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.

Temporary positions are offered for a period of four (4) to twelve (12) months in duration. Number of hours of work per week are 36.25 hours.

Final candidates may be required to undergo security screening to be hired into these temporary opportunities.

You must reside in Edmonton or Calgary
