About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director for the HR Data, Analytics and Reporting Services. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the next evolution of HR data platforms and services within a large, complex enterprise environment. The Technology Director will build on an established foundation while driving modernization, innovation, and alignment with enterprise data and technology strategies. This leader will play a key role in advancing cloud adoption, strengthening data governance and analytics capabilities, and positioning HR data as a strategic asset across the organization. This leader will also drive the adoption of artificial intelligence and generative AI capabilities to accelerate delivery, enhance data-driven insights, and unlock new business value—while ensuring responsible use aligned with enterprise governance and regulatory expectations.


In this role, you will:

  • Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads
  • Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
  • Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
  • Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
  • Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
  • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third party providers
  • Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
  • Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
  • Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent
  • Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
  • Lead team to achieve objectives
  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience
  • 5+ years of enterprise data warehousing, including batch/streaming processing, workload management, scalable storage, and standardized access (SQL/APIs).
  • 5+ years Hands-on leadership of data quality, metadata, and governance-aligned delivery in partnership with risk/compliance.
  • 5+ years of experience operating data platforms in cloud/hybrid environments aligned to enterprise controls and shared responsibility models.
  • Experience partnering with business and technology leaders; clearly communicate priorities, risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Experience using automation and GenAI to improve delivery and productivity while operating within governance guardrails (validation, monitoring, lifecycle management).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Cloud modernization: Experience evolving legacy DW/ETL toward scalable, cloud-based architectures.
  • Modern platform patterns: Familiarity with lakehouse/unified analytics platforms and consolidation strategies.
  • Data product mindset: Defines data products with clear ownership, SLAs, and governed self-service access.
  • GenAI for engineering: Uses GenAI to accelerate development (code, testing, documentation) with strong safety and review practices.
  • Metadata & lineage: Improves discoverability and trust through modern metadata and lineage practices.
  • Platform evolution: Experience with elastic, multi-tenant data platforms optimized for cost and performance.
  • Vendor & risk management: Manages third-party/platform risk in regulated environments (resiliency, controls, compliance).
