Be part of change

• Analysis and identification of promising technologies and research results in the fields of photonics, sensor technology, laser technology, and hybrid integration.
• Selection and implementation of suitable technologies, software architectures, and tools.
• Integration of user feedback and market data into continuous technological development.
• Assessment of technical feasibility and potential for marketable products and solutions.
• Prototyping and implementation within MVPs (Minimum Viable Products) and scalable systems.
• Execution of technology testing and validation processes to ensure market readiness.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration: Partnering with Product Venture Developers for product implementation.
• Development of technological roadmaps for the long-term scaling and advancement of products.

What you contribute

• University degree (Bachelor/Master) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in developing and implementing technological solutions, ideally within a startup or innovation-driven environment.
• Understanding of hardware-related systems and physical measurement principles.
• Interest in optics, photonics, or sensor technology – deep specialization is not required.
• Experience at the interface between hardware and software (e.g., embedded systems, signal processing, measurement technology).
• Interest in application fields such as telecommunications, quantum technology, medical technology, or industrial sensor systems.
• Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and executing complex projects.
• Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken.
• Confident working in dynamic environments with a focus on efficiency and the prioritization of parallel projects.

Your contract at the Fraunhofer HHI is limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
