The Indirect Procurement group within the Finance Services Division is seeking a Technology Procurement Buyer based in Peoria, IL. In this role, you will support global Business Units in acquiring technology solutions by executing sourcing‑to‑contract and procure‑to‑pay processes.

This position has a strong focus on contract negotiation and agreement management, making it well‑suited for candidates with experience in procurement, commercial contracting, or paralegal/legal roles

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Caterpillar and global suppliers, leading commercial engagements and negotiations for technology software categories
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies at global, regional, and site levels
  • Lead contract negotiations by identifying risks, leverage points, and key commercial drivers
  • Partner with Legal to draft, review, and negotiate agreements including MSLAs, MCSAs, SOWs, EULAs, and SLAs
  • Manage supplier relationships with a focus on performance, cost optimization, and risk mitigation
  • Support procurement operations including agreements, policies, catalogs, and special programs
  • Provide analytics and reporting on sales, spend, and performance to support business decisions
  • Act as an escalation point for complex commercial and contracting issues
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, Finance, Legal, and Business Unit stakeholders to drive aligned outcomes
  • Manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously, ensuring timely contract execution and stakeholder alignment

What You Have

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage complex commercial discussions
  • Experience managing or supporting contract development, review, or negotiation
  • Familiarity with legal and commercial agreement structures (paralegal/legal exposure highly transferable)
  • Ability to analyze data and provide insights to support sourcing decisions
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

What Will Set You Apart

  • Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Legal Studies, Pre‑Law, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in procurement, contracting, or paralegal/legal support roles
  • Knowledge of technology/software agreements and licensing terms
  • Ability to work across Legal, Procurement, and Business teams
  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence outcomes in complex environments

  • Travel: Up to 10%

Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
